5 Benefits of Trex Fencing from a Florida Fence Company

While the “perfect” fence can vary from person to person, at a minimum, the fence you choose should be strong, durable, and visually appealing. As a leading Florida fence company, B&T Fencing can help you find a Tallahassee residential fence that meets these requirements and more. Trex fencing is one product that we offer that has been growing in popularity, and this article will explore five reasons why Trex fencing is an excellent choice for many homeowners.

Benefits of Composite Fences in Tallahassee

Trex fencing has been available since 2005 and is a composite fencing material created by recycling plastic and wood and turning that composite mixture into beautiful, signature fencing. Trex is available in three highly-pigmented colors that look attractive and natural. Trex also comes with a 25-year warranty. When compared to other types of fencing, it does cost a little bit more upfront. However, over time the cost of a Trex fence is less than other materials as it generally requires less maintenance and repair.  If you’re trying to decide if Trex is best for you, consider the following merits Trex fencing has to offer.

#1: Trex is Eco-Friendly

Since its inception in 1996, Trex has been an industry leader in eco-friendly practices. They were “green” before it was popular. Using reclaimed sawdust, recycled wood, and recycled plastic from several sources, Trex fencing is comprised of 95% recycled elements. Due to their commitment to eco-friendly practices, Trex has never cut down a tree to use in their products and has also kept approximately 400 million pounds of plastic and wood from landfills each year! By recycling all factory runoff and waste back into the manufacturing line, Trex has found a way to truly reduce, reuse, and recycle. They even use vegetable-based oil hydraulics to run their trailers.

#2: Trex is Easy to Clean

Like its vinyl counterpart, Trex does not require a lot of upkeep. However, it will still need to be cleaned regularly, and we recommend semi-annual cleaning for basic upkeep. Warm water, soap, and a bristle brush should be sufficient to remove regular buildup on your Tallahassee residential fence. We do not recommend harsh products or pressure washing due to the risk of damage to your fence. For an in-depth guide on ways to care for your Trex fence, reference this care and cleaning guide

#3: Trex Fencing is Durable

Trex fencing will not rot, warp, or splinter and is resistant to termite and insect damage. It does not rust and will not be damaged by water, so it is a good option for a pool fence or an area that has a sprinkler system. The 1/4″ wall on the Trex picket is twice as thick as a typical PVC vinyl picket, and Trex is 50-70% heavier than wood. If you need a fence that will last a lifetime, consider Trex fencing from a trusted Florida fence company.

#4: Trex Fencing is Attractive

Trex fencing has top and bottom rails that create a “picture-frame” look that is distinctive from other types of fencing. Available in three colors in a matte finish, Trex provides an attractive barrier that blends well in a variety of settings.

One thing to be aware of is that Trex composite fencing receives heavy pigmentation during manufacturing. Over time, it will fade to a lighter color. This is normal and will not affect the integrity of the product. Unlike wood fencing, Trex fencing will never need to be sanded, painted, or stained. However, because it is a porous material, it can be painted if desired. This will void the warranty, so we don’t recommend it.

#5: Trex Fencing Creates Privacy

Unlike natural wood boards that require a slight gap when installed to allow for product expansion, Trex fencing pickets interlock to create a seamless, board-on-board design. This unique interlocking design keeps them from separating and offers better protection than wood pickets that are butted or that overlap. Butted boards expand and contract due to weather fluctuations, and overlapping boards can warp, which means they may not end up offering complete privacy.  Trex fencing pickets provide a full privacy fence with no gaps.
